ŠKODA KUSHAQ MONTE CARLO – HOT OR NOT

Using your racing heritage to promote your cars seems logical, as Škoda has done with the Rapid Monte Carlo and now with the Kushaq Monte Carlo. To build on the success of the Rapid Monte Carlo, the Kushaq Special Edition was launched earlier this year. There have been several cosmetic and feature updates both inside and outside the SUV, which makes it the new top-of-the-range model.

The Outer Features

Škoda’s butterfly grille is painted full black on the front, which it usually only does on its very sporty models. Over the front wheel arches, you can see black cladding and Monte Carlo badging.

One of the most essential styling elements is the wheel design, which the Kushaq has borrowed from the RS245 Octavia, which, combined with the coloured brake callipers, makes the car stand out from the crowd. The most notable feature of the exterior design is the paint scheme and the Kushaq has been offered in red & white colours with a black roof for the Monte Carlo trim level.

An overview of the interior and its various features

Although the cabin remains unchanged from the standard model, the Monte Carlo trim level features shades of red and black that are exclusive to this trim level. In addition to dual-tone seating, the dashboard, centre console and doors all feature red inserts. The digital cluster and ambient lighting are all red to match the Monte Carlo badge. Considering it is unchanged from the standard car, there is no difference in headroom or legroom in the first row. In the second row, there is enough room for two people to sit comfortably. The seats are pleasantly comfortable for tall people.

In terms of features, the Kushaq Monte Carlo is based on the top-of-the-line Style trim level. In other words, Škoda offers the vehicle with all the bells and whistles it can. The list is pretty extensive, with features such as climate control with rear AC vents, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, steering-mounted controls, auto-dimming IRVM and 360-degree parking cameras.

The Driving Experience

Both the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and the 1.0-litre TSI engine are offered with the Monte Carlo treatment by Škoda. The former provides an output of 147.51 bhp and 250 Nm, coupled to a seven-speed DSG transmission. A 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 113.98 bhp and 178 Nm and is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. In terms of numbers, it is impressive and possesses power. The engine begins to deliver a linear delivery that makes it a solid cruising engine. To make the DSG work at its best, you should let it do its thing in the background and you will never be short of power. The engine performs equally well if you need to accelerate quickly and its gearbox can reach 6000 rpm before shifting.

This engine and gearbox combination performs very well on the NVH scale, with a smooth and vibration-free idle. The transmission shifts seamlessly as you approach the red line as you put the pedal to the metal to increase speed. With this model, Škoda maintains its reputation as a driver’s car.

The Kushaq Monte Carlo can run from 0-60 km/h in 4.88 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 9.68 seconds. Among these, the latter indicates the engine’s ability to rev rapidly, smoothly and relentlessly. Its steering weighs nicely as the car speeds up and responds very quickly, aligning well with Škoda’s fun-to-drive image. The turn-ins are inspiring and there is room for course correction if necessary.

Even though Škoda Kushaq Monte Carlo competes with others on the market, there is no doubt about its unique capabilities and unforgettable driving experience.
